The Aquatic Center is required to be closed and pools drained during this project. During this time YMCA Team Members will be conducting general maintenance and cleaning to the Aquatic Center. Pool is scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 29.
With this updated timeline we have had to alter our swim lesson plans for the beginning of our Winter Sessions:
Session I of SATURDAY morning lessons will proceed as scheduled with the January 20th and 27th classes at SMSU and all remaining sessions at the Y. Participants will be provided with information. Scroll a little further down to access a map of the SMSU campus pool location.
Unfortunately, Session I of TUESDAY/THURSDAY swim Lessons will be cancelled. YMCA staff will be contacting all Session I registrants to make accommodations for future sessions. Options will include switching to Saturday lessons, moving to a future session, receiving a refund or system credit.
Water Fitness participants are invited to take part in our menu of land-based classes. Lower impact group exercise classes we suggest:

Adding a new blue tile border to the bench.
Looks like a brand new tub!
HEAT PUMP PROJECT: The Y has over 270 geo-thermal wells that help control our heating and cooling of the facility. This project began earlier this fall and we have been replacing the older and less energy efficient pumps with new more efficient pumps.
LED LIGHTING PROJECT: In an effort to become even more energy efficient we are switching every light fixture in our facility to LED lighting. This project is being done at an estimated cost of $68,000 and will save an estimated $20,555 annual on the YMCA's electricty costs. MMU will rebate the Y $14,200 for making this switch to more efficient lighting throughout our facility.
