Not sure where to begin?  Our Wellness Center Staff will walk you through the proper use of our cardio floor equipment and circuit training weight machines.  An orientation lasts about an hour, schedule your appointment with the Welcome Center today.



Start your kids off on the right foot—get them into fitness today! All kids ages 9-13 are required to take our Family Fitness class along with a parent prior to being allowed to use the Wellness Center and Track. Family Fitness is a free orientation class, learn all the basics of working out on the machines and then begin working out together as a family! Please schedule an appointment for your orientation.

FITSTART (3 one hour sessions)

This is a great way to discover all the possibilities of your Y membership! If you are looking for some direction, or need a little encouragement to get started on healthy habits, the FitStart program can help! We'll take you through an orientation of the cardio & strength equipment and teach you how to keep track of your progress throughout the program for Wellness Staff to evaluate. Personal Training allows you to consistently work one-on-one with a Nationally Certified Personal Trainer, and maximize your efforts. Our Personal Trainers can help break plateaus, push you to new limits, and challenge you while keeping exercises fun and fresh. Trainers are available throughout the day and evening and work with your schedule in mind.

Our training packages range from individual sessions of 1 to 15 meetings up to 3 or 6 month packages where you will train 1, 2 or 3 times a week.

The hardest part of your healthy lifestyle journey is getting started, staying motivated, and ultimately keeping active.  The Y has many different modes of wellness from individual challenges to group exercise classes that will help push you to your goals.


Group Classes

Join our great group of instructors in our state-of-the-art aerobics studio for a variety of weekly workouts. Our instructors all hold nationally recognized certifications and have years of experience to assure you the best workout anywhere. Classes are included with membership fees, no advance registration required, just show up and enjoy!* A hard copy schedule** of class days and times is available at the Y. We have expanded the variety of classes each week; there is sure to be a class for everyone!

September 18 - November 16

New to running? Have you always wanted to run a 5K? Matt Konrad, SMSU Track Athlete, and NETA certified personal trainer, will give you all the tools you need to be successful. The Couch to 5K running program is 9 weeks, and culminates with the Gobble Wobble 5K on Thanksgiving morning. You’ll be ready to run 3.1 miles with no worries! All registered participants in the Couch to 5K program receive a free race entry for the Gobble Wobble 5K on Thanksgiving morning.

Mondays & Thursdays 5:30 am or 5:30 pm



November 12-December 31

As a part of the challenge, each participant receives:

  • An exclusive t-shirt
  • Three weigh-ins: During Week 1, Week 4 (optional) and Week 8 (mandatory)
  • Weekly emails with workout tips, healthy holiday recipes and special fitness challenges.

Maintain your weight within two pounds over an eight-week period. If you succeed, receive a $20 YMCA voucher, good towards YMCA programs! If you lose weight, GREAT! You also receive the $20 voucher.

Joints in Motion (MS Aquatics)

For anyone who has multiple sclerosis or other physical challenges who may be helped by aquatic exercises. Your life will never be the same once you experience this inspiring water exercise program held in the lap pool. Not only will it be therapeutic physically, but mentally as well.
