POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Youth Development Director and in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Marshall Area YMCA, Y Club Staff is the primary staff person engaging youth throughout the facility and supervising the E-Sports Room. In addition, he/she is to aid the Marshall Area YMCA in fulfilling our mission to instill the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility through programs and services that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Position requires a person with experience in working with youth.
  • Person must exude enthusiasm and positive spirit.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Person must exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability.
  • Must be recognized by others as being of sound character, strong moral values, and personal ethics.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Build and maintain positive relationships with youth, parents, and other YMCA staff. 
  2. Initiate interaction with and between participants. 
  3. Invite youth to participate in other YMCA programs. 
  4. Teach and model the four values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. 
  5. Emphasize fun; make the Y a happy place with positive relationships. 
  6. Ensure the well-being and safety of all participants. 
  7. Attend all training courses and meetings. 
  8. Care for and maintain equipment, supplies and property. 
  9. Uphold YMCA policies and philosophy; use character development as a basis in working with both participants and other staff members. 
  10. Have complete knowledge of all emergency procedures to ensure the safety of the participants. 
  11. Assist Youth Development Director and Executive Director as requested in relation to Marshall Area YMCA. 
  12. The candidate must be able to fulfill the above job requirements by purposefully and seamlessly challenging her/himself and others to accept and demonstrate the positive values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Candidate must be able to participate in typical youth games & activities and watch & listen to the activities of a group of youth children.
