WHAT IS BOGAFiT?

BOGAFiT is an innovative fitness program that builds strength, deepens flexibility, and improves balance and coordination through a carefully selected set of movements on the FiTMAT. BOGAFiT exercises both enhance the benefits of traditional fitness movements while eliminating the harsh impacts of these exercises, creating high intensity workouts on water with low impact on your body.

Recent studies such as Blue Mind Theory have proved being around water lowers blood pressure, helps depression and even increases dopamine. BOGAFiT is more than just a fitness routine, the connection to water and the proven benefits it provides go beyond just physical but emotional and spiritual wellness as well.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How fit do I need to be to BOGAFiT?

BOGAFiT is for most fitness levels. Instructors will offer options and modifications to make this class accessible for most. You must be able to get on and off the Boga Fitmat without assistance, and you should be able to tread water for 45 to 60 seconds.

I'm pregnant. Can I still do BOGAFiT?

As with any workout during pregnancy, we recommend you discuss it with your doctor before signing up for a BOGAFiT class. Getting on the Boga Fitmat will require you to lean on your stomach for a short time.

What should I bring to the workout?

Plan to wear quick dry/synthetic workout clothes or swimwear (no cotton) and bring a towel and water bottle. Locker facilities are available if you'd like to shower after class.

What is the YMCA's Cancellation Policy?

If cancellation is made 6 days or less prior to the start of the program, you may choose either a full credit to be used towards a future YMCA program, or a 50% cash/credit refund.  If the program has already begun, no refunds or credits will be given.

We understand there may be special situations that need extra consideration; we attempt to accommodate everyone fairly and evaluate these situations on a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kristen Moses at kmoses@marshallareaymca.org.
